How Do I Care for my Gustav Emil Ern Knife?

23rd September 2008 12:29

A number of people have asked whether they can put their Gustav Emil Ern knives in the dishwasher. The answer is yes and no! To explain further, I have drafted the Care and Use guide below and will be adding this to the product details on the website so they are clearer to all. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Care and Use

    Cutting
  • Use a soft block or board – our Moha Chopping Boards are recommended by Gustav Emil Ern – to avoid damaging the blade
  • Cleaning
  • Wash and dry as soon as possible after use, to get maximum longevity from your knives
  • POM and Profilon handles are dishwasher proof, however, it is not recommended as some dishwasher powders and machines can damage blades or cutting edges
  • POM and Profilon handles can be sterilised
  • Remove any signs of tarnishing with a non-abrasive scouring powder
  • Storage
  • Best stored in a knife block, case or magnetic rack to prevent movement and damage to cutting edges.
