Why are Swiss Diamond Pans currently in short supply?
It is a great shame but the UK importer of Swiss Diamond pans has decided to stop stocking them. Not because the pans are poor in quality. Far from it, Swiss Diamond cookware has been very popular. The problem is to do with price. The Swiss manufacturers have radically increased their prices and the UK importers feel that in the current economic climate, the UK market simply won't tolerate the increase.
So for the moment we are selling our remaining stock and hoping that a new UK importer will be appointed shortly. We are able to buy direct from Swiss Diamond I believe, but as usual with these kinds of changes, it can take some time for all the administration to be sorted out.
A great shame, but I don't want to give up on Swiss Diamond unless I have to. I use the 32cms Frying pan my self at home and have bashed the hell out of it with stainless steel utensils. There are no marks so far. I would say that the surface does darken quite easily if you overheat the pans. This reduces the non stick quality of the surface, but for me, this is not really a problem as I like to use some oil in my cooking anyway, as it carries the flavours.
So watch this space - there is light at the end of the tunnel
